The college was started on the 4th of July, 2016 and is affiliated with Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University (MKBU). With an aim to impart and empower young girls, the college provides a platform for school students to continue their education in the same premises and incoming students to be in a safe and secure premise.
The college was initially started with providing undergraduate courses in arts and commerce with the addition of postgraduate courses being offered for the same in the year 2019.
The college then started its English medium wing in 2020.
The college has been instrumental in providing education to young girls in varying areas of arts and commerce courses, broadening their horizons and enhancing skills that further shape their young minds, preparing them to be empowered women of tomorrow.
Long, long ago, in a kingdom called Bhavnagar, there lived a queen with remarkable foresight and vision. Maharani Nandkunverba Saheba, a strong and influential partner to her husband, Maharaja Bhavsinhji, recognized that empowering women and ensuring a progressive society could only be achieved through the education of the female population. Thus, in the year 1917, she laid the foundation for Shree Nandkunverba Kshatriya Kanya Vidyalaya.
One of the first in India to abolish the “Purdah System” and a pioneer in the emancipation of women, Maharanishree Nandkunverba Saheba left behind a rich legacy that our institution strives to live up to. We aim to instill in our girls a strong value system of culture and tradition, while simultaneously arming them with all the skills required to live a happy, successful, and fulfilling life, following their dreams and helping make the world a better place.
Knowledge and courage can surmount mountains, and the students of our school are molded from childhood to become dynamic young ladies. Our institution takes on the responsibility of preparing them for life. While wisdom and a thirst for knowledge are imparted in the classroom, the sports field inculcates the philosophy of grace in victory and dignity in defeat, while simultaneously ensuring that the girls are team players, fit, healthy, and strong. Character-building activities such as social work camps (NSS) and field excursions are an integral part of student life here, as are discipline and duty-honing (NCC) events. Dance, music, theatre, and cultural festivities ensure that our girls have a happy, creative, and spiritually sound childhood.
The Nandkunverba Kshatriya Kanya Vidyalaya Trustees and Staff follow the principle that education does not simply mean earning a degree; it is an eternal quest for learning and growth that becomes a part of the person and stays for life. Our students here are given strong roots and, finally, wings to fly beautifully.
